Shaviyani Atoll (North Miladhunmadulu) sits in the northern reaches of the Maldives and is renowned among serious divers for its dramatic outer reef walls that plunge to extraordinary depths. The currents here attract large pelagics — oceanic whitetip sharks, silvertip sharks, and hammerheads are regular visitors.

The atoll remains largely undeveloped for tourism, preserving an authenticity that is increasingly rare. Local fishermen still practice traditional pole-and-line fishing, and the islands host mosques with beautiful architecture dating back centuries.
