Ari Atoll — split administratively into Alifu Alifu (North Ari) and Alifu Dhaalu (South Ari) — is widely considered the crown jewel of Maldives diving. Its waters host whale sharks year-round at sites like South Ari Marine Protected Area, making it the most reliable whale shark destination in the world.

Beyond the magnificent megafauna, Ari hosts some of the Maldives’ most celebrated resorts. Ellaidhoo, Rangali, and Vilamendhoo are legends in the dive world. The atoll’s lagoons shimmer in impossible shades of turquoise, and its sandbars emerge like mirages from the Indian Ocean.
